The Unnamed USF Podcast
It's FSU Week! We'll of course have lots of #content, but this might be the best. Collin Sherwin, Paul Leistner, and Carl Zee welcome FSU grads and friends Hoyt Prindle and Greg LaManna to discuss the biggest game at Ray Jay in years.
Hoyt's rant to open the podcast is so FSU fan, it should be transcribed on Renegade's back. Seriously, just take it in all its glory.
We also discuss how hurt is Dalvin Cook, where's Jimbo Fisher coaching next season, can USF give FSU as much trouble in zone read as Louisville, and every other topic relating to the game. As for predictions: one USF fan picks FSU to win, and one FSU fan picks USF.
We also discuss how USF finally got back to a point where games matter again, what it'll sound like at the stadium on Saturday, how big games like this should feel, and reminisce about games like this from long ago, and how this one should compare.
Normally our podcasts are of course as mediocre as we are, but this one is good. Enjoy it.
This week we rehash the promise and failure of the ECU game with Josh Appel and Jeff Odom of the Tampa Bay Times. We talk about the chances USF had and missed, whether the Bulls are making the right adjustments, and delve into whether former players should be commenting on the current state of the program (ahem, Matt Grothe).
Joey Knight from the Tampa Bay Times joins us as well, and we also play lots of songs involving the number 17 since that's the maximum USF seems to score. Some of them are classics (Stevie Nicks), and some of them are terrible (Avril Lavigne).
It's as mediocre as always, but still fun if you love your Bulls.
In this week's episode, Josh Appel and Collin Sherwin discuss the "win" over SMU. Was it a win, or just an indication as to how intractible the USF coaching staff is? Josh plays "We Are The Champions" at all opportunities, and Collin says it was the worst win in program history. Both sides are vociferoulsy argued.
We also discuss the upstart, fun to watch, but maybe not very good yet men's basketball team, the big opening weekend for women's basketball, the two heartbreaking losses for the men's and women's soccer teams, and Josh's pretty boring travel adventures.
We close with Jamie DeVriend from Voodoo Five, who covered the SMU game in Dallas. He talks about one of the worst football games you'll ever see, and the lack of direction of the USF offense. We also get into the coaching carousel of college football, Will Muschamp, and of course gambling.
In this week's episode made possible by Veterans Day, Jeff Odom & Collin Sherwin go over the last few weeks of interesting, meaningful football at USF. We're as stunned as you are.
We also discuss the beginning of basketball season, both soccer teams and their NCAA pushes, and all the other happenings around USF Athletics. Collin also diatribes on student groups that have events on football game days.
We also welcome midfielder Jordyn Listro from women's soccer, who takes on FGCU in their first round NCAA Tournament game on Saturday at 1 p.m. at USF. Hey Bulls fans: make a doubleheader out of Saturday: Corbett Stadium for soccer at 1 p.m., Ray Jay at 7 p.m. for Temple!
It's still really mediocre and there's no bumper music because Collin doesn't know how to do that stuff, but it's still the best USF sports podcast on the Internet, and that's not just because it's the only one.
In this week's episode, Collin Sherwin, Jeff Odom, and Josh Appel wrap up the awfulness that was the C. Florida shutout. We also begin to put a bow on the season, and talk about some moves we expect to see this offseason.
We also talk to Joey Johnston of the Tampa Tribune about his thoughts on the disaster of a season for football, and what can be done to turn it around.
We then devolve into a discussion of 90's suburban rock that just goes off the rails, and mix in some USF men's and women's basketball. Let us know if you enjoy it, because it was a sidebar off a tangent of a digression. But at least we had fun.
In Part 1 of our podcasts this week, Josh Appel, Vinnie Portell, and Collin Sherwin look back at the FAMU blowout win, and ahead to another opportunity for the Bulls to make some noise in an out of conference road game at FSU on Saturday.
We try not to get too excited for the big win, and will try and not get too upset if things don't work out this weekend. Hard not to get excited about Elkanah Dillon, though.
We also reference some specific FSU content coming later, and those will be up shortly as well.
In this week's 14 hours late and slightly shorter than usual edition, Josh Appel and Collin Sherwin recap the biggest comeback in USF history, 38-30 over Tulsa. Admit it, after the first half, you did NOT see that coming!
We also talk everything else USF, and start to get you ready for a Cincinnati team that can't seem to stop anyone. Is their lax defense enough for the Bulls to overcome their weeknight curse? That's a split decision
This week Josh Appel, Vinnie Portell, and Collin Sherwin discuss the pluses and minuses coming off the Bulls 34-14 loss to FSU. We discuss a defense that was solid... except in containing one of the best players in America in Dalvin Cook.
We also discuss the good things and bad things the offense did. They made some plays... and also left a ton out on the field. Is that enough to win with this defense against lesser AAC competition? And how will they matchup with Maryland (who will start their previously backup QB) in what seems to be a winnable game for the Bulls?
Also we chat with Natalia Soares of USF Volleyball ahead of their tournament in the Sun Dome this weekend vs. Auburn... and Penn State. The #1 team in the world on your home floor is a great recruiting opportunity, and we discuss what it'll be like at the Dome on Saturday.
It's better because Natalia was wonderful, but we're still as mediocre as ever. Enjoy!
This week Josh Appel & Collin Sherwin discuss the lack of progress on most fronts seen by USF in the Memphis game. Why isn't USF getting better? Why the continual seemingly plan-free rotation of quarterbacks? What's the plan here?
Also Collin launches into a diatribe about why he hates the UCF "rivalry," and we discuss the upcoming Black Friday game that will end the Bulls season.
We also talk about the incredibly fun USF men's basketball team that has quickly captured our hearts, Sting joining the WWE, and USF athletic director Mark Harlan joining us on the podcast next week (or the week after, whatever, he's coming)!!
In this week's super brief edition, we talk to Denise Schilte-Brown about USF Women's Soccer ahead of their NCAA Tournament match against Illinois State Saturday night.
Denise (and her twins) were fantastic, and go root on her team tomorrow night at 7 p.m. as they start their NCAA run.
Also we taped like 45 minutes of other podcast that we had to put in the dumpster because QUINTON FLOWERS!! Thanks Coach Taggart for screwing up our media cycle totally. We'll forgive you if there's a win on Saturday.
It's far less mediocre than usual because of Denise, so enjoy.
