About 03 - Christmas Cantata - The Wisemen and Ritornello (2:59):
CANTATA: On The Morning Of Christ's Nativity, 1976: C. F. PETERS, New York (BMI)
About this work Rhodes says: "The text for the Christmas Cantata is taken from John Milton’s ode, On the Morning of Christ’s Nativity. Milton’s wonderfully descriptive language and its profound interpretation of and sensitive additions to the Biblical narrative seemed to provide the perfect text for my own personal celebration of the Christmas story. The musical language is basically tonal in the context of the 20th Century and reflects my interest and research in traditional Appalachian music."
